thanks James the RCV is not the half of it came time to come home battery flat on the jeep no jump leads. ARHHH

Oh no, bad news. I suspect you need a big battery to turn that engine as well! J

RCV is off to deepest darkest Kent tomorrow with the promise of a while you wait rebuild, auto electrician shorted out my battery with a large heater element and pronounced it fit for purpose and the alternator is charging at 80amps yikes, so idon't know where we go from here take up Dicky-Dead-stick on his kind offer of sharing his van battery I guess and carry a large set of jump leads (sorry Tim 30mile detour for jump leads).

At least you weren't the last one to leave, as it would have been a long walk to John's farmhouse for help; I'm of course assuming he lives on the farm.

I was discussing the RCV and looking at diagrams of said engine type with some of my colleagues. One of the first things that came up by consensus was the requirement for good lubrication, as there are a lot of moving, sliding, rotating and meshing parts! Food for thought. J
